Tropical flyer's paradise
Tropical climate, picturesque landscapes and villages, reliable flight conditions, salsa music, rum and coke and incredibly hospitable people: this is Colombia. We have revised our round trip from Cali to Medellin and added some new areas off the beaten flight path.
Our tour starts in Cali in the south of the Valle del Cauca, where we will spend the first days flying warm in the Piedechinche region. As the journey continues, we will follow the course of the Cauca River towards the north and explore the entire valley with all its aeronautical possibilities, which will take us, among other places, through the famous flying arena of Roldanillo and to Ansermanuevo, located to the north. Thanks to numerous competitions, paragliding has become famous in the Valle del Cauca. Last but not least, thanks to its great potential for cross-country flying.
We will always spend a few days at our various base camps, tackling local thermals or exciting cross-country tasks together, depending on the level. These usually take us from the wooded slopes of the valley rim at some point into the reliable flatland thermals of the broad valley above the many sugar cane fields. Whoever wants can try to reach the next stage destination by flying. We are accommodated either in fincas or in typical hotels along the route.
The second part of the tour takes us north along the Cauca River to the area of La Pintada and Jerico. Out of the vast valley and sugar cane fields, into the heart of the mountainous coffee growing region. In this region there are several known and less known launch sites waiting to be explored by us.
If conditions aren’t good for flying, the region offers everything from swimming in small jungle rivers to sightseeing in quaint mountain villages with their colorful, ornate houses, cozy plazas and pretty leather handicrafts. We end our tour in the flying areas around colonial Santa Fe de Antioquia, near Medellin.
