North / Central Spain

Northern Spain is a region of geographical contrasts: the Picos de Europa massif separates the very green coast from the dry interior. Our tour can take us to flying areas on both sides of the mountains and thus promises a lot of variety geographically and climatically.

We start our tour in the Basque Country in Bilbao and, depending on the weather conditions, explore the nearby flying areas there, on the coasts of Asturias or Cantabria, or inland in Navarre, La Rioja or Castilla y León. In the north of Spain it is still possible to stand alone at a take-off and there are lonely and enchanted corners to discover.

Continuing towards Madrid, we will fly over the Sierra de Gredos in central Spain, whose northern side has become known as Piedrahíta. But the lesser-known south side also offers attractive options.

In terms of flying, anything is possible on this trip: soaring in green bays and on beautiful beaches, to thermal and cross-country flying in the dry Spanish interior. Our tour through northern and central Spain leads through one of the most diverse and unknown regions in southwest Europe – from Bilbao to Madrid.
