Southern France 1

The southeast of France is famous for its wild and romantic landscapes, its charming villages, its good cuisine and of course for its classic flying areas in the Alps of Haute Provence.

But the neighboring départements of Haute-Alpes, Isère and Drôme also have a lot to offer – southwest of Grenoble stretches the Parc naturel du Vercors with its striking rock bands and high valleys; to the southeast lies the Parc national des Écrins, which with its countless peaks is also home to the southernmost 4,000-meter peak in the Alps and along whose southern flank there is a lot of flying.

On our tour we want to discover these regions aeronautically and explore them from the air. Depending on the weather conditions, we could head from the Alpine town of Gap to the areas south of the Écrins, the Vercors, and around the Lac de Serre-Poncon. The beautiful Durance Valley is also easily accessible.

With a change of location to the small village of Castellane, we finally pay a visit to Haute Provence and the Maritime Alps and enjoy the spectacular scenery between Verdon, Saint André les Alpes and Gréolières.

Relaxed thermodynamic flying until the evening hours or revving up and taking off on a few track miles, enjoying the good local cuisine in the evening and experiencing the typical flair of the South of France.
