From the Pacific coast to the Altiplano
This trip is definitely one of the most varied and diverse in our program. We start our adventure in the capital city of Lima, where we soar in front of the skyscrapers of this 14-million-strong metropolis.
Next, we head to Paracas, the Peruvian kitesurfing mecca. With a bit of luck, part of the journey can even be covered in the air. Paracas itself is a true beach soaring paradise amidst a breathtaking desert landscape: ideal conditions for playful flights, top landings, and extensive strong wind training.
Our route then takes us to the Ica Desert. There, we’ll spend the night in the Huacachina oasis, whose impressive sand dunes will serve as our next flying arena. The following stop is Nazca, world-famous for its millennia-old geoglyphs, the so-called Nazca Lines. Those who wish can take a scenic flight over the lines in a small plane upon arrival (see information below).
Early the next morning, we set off on our last lowland adventure: an optional hike & fly that takes us to one of the world’s largest dunes in about two and a half hours, just in time for sunrise.
Afterwards, a long but impressive drive awaits us, taking us to an altitude of 4,600 meters towards Cusco. Halfway there, we’ll make a two-day stopover and use the time to fly over Inca ruins and mountain lagoons.
Next, we head to the picturesque Sacred Valley, where we’ll set up our base camp for five nights. The area offers numerous flying opportunities: In the mornings, we usually enjoy two to three hours of thermals or shorter cross-country flights before taking a break around midday – the valley winds and thermals often become quite strong at this time. There’s no shortage of alternatives, as the area around the Sacred Valley and Cusco has an incredible amount to offer. In the evenings, flights are planned from Cerro Sacro, Cusco’s local mountain.
Optionally, you can also book a day trip to the world-famous Inca site of Machu Picchu (see information below). Additionally, another morning hike & fly to the Inca Sun Gate high above the Sacred Valley is planned; those who wish can also reach the Sun Gate on horseback.
We spend the last night in the former Inca capital of Cuzco, whose unique, well-preserved old town is truly captivating.
Our Peru Explorer flight is aimed at curious pilots who want to explore this fascinating country both from the air and on the ground. Participants should be prepared to undertake longer flights in order to experience the vast and breathtaking landscapes of Peru.
For this journey, we require safe reverse takeoffs, independent flight decisions, flexibility, and a spirit of adventure.
