South France Round Trip

The southeast of France is famous for its wild and romantic landscapes, its charming villages, its good cuisine and of course for its classic flying areas in the Alps of Haute Provence.

But the neighboring départements of Haute-Alpes, Isère and Drôme also have a lot to offer – southwest of Grenoble stretches the Parc naturel du Vercors with its striking rock bands and high valleys; to the southeast lies the Parc national des Écrins, which with its countless peaks is also home to the southernmost 4,000-meter peak in the Alps and along whose southern flank there is a lot of flying.

On our tour we want to discover these regions aeronautically and explore them from the air. Depending on the weather conditions we are flexible on the road and could stop in the Vercors, around the alpine town of Gap south of the Écrins, as around the Lac de Serre-Poncon. Areas such as Aspres-sur-Buech, Larangne or a detour to the region of the pretty town of Sisteron are also possible; and should the weather force us further south, we will pay a visit to Haute Provence.

Relaxed thermodynamic flying until the evening hours or revving up and taking off on a few track miles, enjoying the good local cuisine in the evening and experiencing the typical flair of the South of France.
